I still post on other socials, but I treat it like a small gamble. Very risky with limited reward. I now only put real investment into #Nostr and #Pear. Investing serious time and energy in traditional social just feels like trading shitcoins now. It’s dumb, and a waste of precious resources. nostr:note1zurwkktn7980rhmx0a6854xgp3n2ednj3fepz4l9w0tyku3xm4jqmfnnga
Pear? Is that the thing based in keet/holepunch?

Sorry I couldn't keep up with pear, too many chat apps lol
No worries. It’s always there whenever needed. Thats what makes it great. Even if some choose not to use it as their main, it’s the chat-app-of-last-resort when everything else fails. My brother and I have used it numerous times when everything else was sucking 😂
signal amongst signal. noisy environments corrupts are own ability to reverberate signal.
Interestingly, I feel the same about consumption as well. I got so tired of maintaining the platform accounts that I just deleted them. I never knew when someone was going to get kicked off or hidden from me. It's just too exhausting for me even from a consumption standpoint. The Nostr social media use case has a lot of growth potential, but I'm already all in on it.
I really need to check Pear out. Still haven't
You crossed the mental rubicon. https://media1.tenor.com/m/VTEt7QU9oRoAAAAd/matrix-neo.gif
Next step: Nostr maximalism. You just leave the fiat social media.
I get zero interaction though...
A simple scroll through your profile: • The posts kinda look scripted with the short line and then bunch of hashtags, people might be passing it off as a bot. • Posts are not very frequent, takes a bit to catch attention from someone who wants to engage if they aren’t sure who you are (trust networks are big here, this is why it’s a lot of bitcoiners) • You don’t seem to be engaging with anyone, I would encourage more conversation and replies. In fact had it not been for this comment, I might not have had any clear indication that it wasn’t just a political post bot. • Follow more people. Because there is no algorithm or “curated experience” for new users, everything is dependent upon following a large group for good posts, and then engaging with them. It’s a little different than social media, because they actually do a lot to cater the experience so that certain things get engagement and that new users are pushed in particular directions and find a “community” to get angry over the same things to keep them locked in. #Nostr is a raw social network. It doesn’t have those things. It’s kinda like joining a huge party where you don’t know anyone. You gotta go up and talk to people and meet them. Not many scroll the global feed just looking for good posts I don’t think. So if you don’t engage, you likely won’t reach many people. That’s my 2 sats. Hope this helps man.
That’s why I was initially turned off by Nostr, it seemed like nobody really cared about my pictures. The thing is, it was years ago that I had gotten rid of my old Facebook account and I barely cared about that anyway, so Nostr just felt like too much work.
Suggest you spend time following and replying to other people’s content a bit more, you’ve got to build up followers or nostr will feel empty as no-one is seeing your content. Also try posting things that interest you rather than just real world stuff and follow those who interact. You’ll find like minded people to grow your network easier this way.
Couldn’t agree more. I see the “notes” vs. “replies” numbers in the same way we used to see “K/D Ratios” in multiplayer video games. Your Replies/Notes should be as positive as you can manage 😂🤙🏻
Think about the number of “notes” vs “replies” you have. I think the balance should be heavier on the replies. Everyone wants interaction, everyone wants someone to read their notes and engage with them. So do it first. Spend all your time trying to reply and build the ideas, jokes, notes, and other stuff people put out and you’ll build friendships here. Do that long enough and people will see you and your npub as trusted, and start engaging with you more.
If you’re at a social event and stand off in the corner just lurking talking to yourself do you expect a lot of people to come up and talk to you? You would do better to go into the crowd and initiate or join conversations. Same on Nostr. Follow lots of people and engage with their posts and start interacting in threads that interest you. People will start interacting back and following you.
My hunch is that people assume you are selling stuff. "buy t shirts" and "learn skills fast on our YouTube" feels like an advertising account. I would take that out of your profile. A link to a business and/personal website is one thing, but sales pitches and taglines in the bio is another.
It just takes time.. hell I was posting to Twitter with 2400 followers and not getting any interactions either so.. just engage with people and spend time here. Things will fall into place
Not forgetting that you get banned.

What’s #pear ?
pears.com Apps i use daily, Keet (chat app), Holesail (direct connections between computers), PeerViewer (P2P remote desktop), and soon to be my own app that I'm building... just not yet.
I've tried Keet. Got a friend to join in too. Really enjoying that one. Tried HoleSail to see if I could use that with a Palworld dedicated server for a pal to use, but that didn't seem to work out.
Hmm, wonder what was going on that made Holesail not work? Failed to connect or something else?
I'm not sure honestly. As far as I can tell everything was working, he just couldn't connect to me from the game. I'll try trouble shooting it more in the future though.
I haven't used keet in the last couple months, but I was struggling with the UX tbh. Having to individually select and send photos/videos and having to sit with the app open as it takes minutes to send the files wasn't ideal. The main usecase for me was private file sharing.
Don’t worry. I’m working on solving the file sharing problem myself, and I think it will potentially help to integrate with Keet as well (at least I hope). I think they just have too many things to work out for the really aggressive coordination with large chat conversations and keys and digging through a massive database, that makes adding and optimizing files becomes just another layer of trouble. They will get there, it’ll just take time. In the meantime I think I have some simple ways to solve the file problem that makes it more clearly visible and robust as to what is happening with the file, and to think about its “health” more explicitly. I think the biggest problem is being unable to see what is happening and generic errors. There are some really simple solutions to make that experience both reliable and intuitive (in my thinking) that we are trying to get working smoothly. Stay tuned.
That’s exactly my line of thinking. Matter of fact I just closed my Twitter account and went nostr only today. Made the decision that nostr is where it’s at, tired of giving big tech my attention and making money of me and I can’t be censored. This is a utility that is underappreciated..
What is Pear?
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this
