Every time a GC person I admire says she is not transphobic, I have to think for a minute.  I’m pretty sure that I am whatever “transphobic” means.  I don’t object to all forms of drag or crossdressing in all circumstances, but I am fairly pissed off that I even have to see a TIM working at my local grocery store, never mind wanting them working with kids.  I’m pretty sure I’m doing all or most of what I have to do to be “transphobic.”  If I didn’t want, for example, people of a race other than my own working at my favorite grocery store or teaching children, I would be a raging racist, would I not?  Or, since “trans” is not an innate characteristic, a better analogy might be that if I didn’t want Catholics to have most jobs, I’d be anti-Catholic.
