Spitballing here again but what if #nostr’s biggest selling feature is the fact that’s it’s so UNLIKE other social media. I made a note about this the other day not I truly feel it could be the true social app. REAL connections. We made some this week and now they’re ‘here’…but we need to work on keeping them here #unmarketing #grownostr
It’s hard. People don’t stick around for a few people usually. They need a sufficient number of their network to move as well.
Ya but more importantly is to make sure their first experience is better. Thats so so important. We are gonna change this
Truth be told people will hop through all sorts of obstacles if the reward is worth it. Bitcoiners do this all the time because so many are principled. Good first experience is a must for sure, but that’s only a tiny part of what really keeps people around: other people and or good content.
I’ve just heard so many bad first experiences lately. And I’ve seen it first hand. @tiffapiffa is gonna give us some advice. She’s a designer for a massive company 💜 but keep in mind Tiffany we have like less than 5 developers lol
I have zero people from my previous "network" here, and interact with maybe a dozen people, and I'm Nostr only. Probably because I got off social media *before* joining Nostr. If you want growth, you have to recognize that 90% of social media users do not even post. They just want to 1. read the news, 2. find funny memes from other people, 3. follow a few celebrities. All this could be achieved with bots that mirror X accounts, couldn't it?
In other words: people and content
Yeah, but not the type of content that you and I can produce.
They want addicting stuff
I disagree. It’s the barriers to entry
The fact that it is unlike other social media is definitely one of the things I enjoy about Nostr and partly what has kept me here. The interactions on here feel a lot more authentic than on other social media, almost like a group of friends just hanging out having a chat. I think keeping people here is a challenge at the moment. I feel like engagement has dropped off from what it has been in the past. While I’m not personally here seeking engagement, someone new to Nostr probably won’t stay around long if they don’t get some sort of engagement and feel like their notes are being seen.
Nostr isn't social media.
