Surprisingly, Chester Bennington's (RIP) replacement by Emily Armstrong fulfills the same vibe in the lineup. Her screaming vocals capture a lot of the same sound and essence of Bennington. That was a surprisingly good pick. With Mike Shinoda still doing major vocals and most other members still onboard, Linkin Park 2.0 is surprisingly continuous with Linkin Park 1.0, in my view. Solid revival of a major band after a six-year semi-hiatus.
I totally agree with you 💯
Apparently Chestersons son is not on board. Citing ties to Church of Scientology and supporting Danny Masterson. I thought the new song was good too. I'm on the fence though.
Tom Cruise is a Scientologist but he still makes good action movies. I see no reason to discount Emily Armstrong as a surprisingly good Chester Bennington replacement for her personal life.
Oh no shit?
I had chills listening to that new song. She melodically screams just like how Chester pulled it off. At times they’re almost indistinguishable! What a trip
A rare instance where replacing a singer with someone of the opposite sex was actually the right pick. She sounds so similar. Nailed it.
Right? And managing to bring her own unique style to the song too so it’s not just a nostalgic filled experience
Linkin Park makes me think of LAN parties, Mountain Dew Code Red, and middle school. Good times! 😎
Sorry but it's a nah from me dog. Alice in Chains replaced Layne Stayley and while the sound is similar and they've put out new albums it's NOT the same. But then again, I'm a David Lee Roth Van Halen fan over Van Haggar. OG (original group) supporter only.
Can't agree more. Really enjoy her vocals and feel she fits in well. Looking forward to the album in November. 🤘
I had it on my radar and this was the only push I needed, listened to the live concert and then the new song, and I'm so happy. https://youtu.be/SRXH9AbT280
I tend to agree. And while her affiliations with Scientology are amusing I can't say I ever cared about Linkin' Park on that level for it to bother me. Chester's vocals were always worthy of a degree of admiration, and they've done him justice with by bringing on Emily. That said, careful calling her his replacement; not everyone's so keen on that terminology due to some loaded meaning, even if it is on some levels technically accurate. Successor may be more apt.
Thoughts @Jameson Lopp ?!
Will have to see more from her, but from a passionate fan pov I know I'm gonna find it difficult to feel ok with the change. I personally feel that way with some vocals, some are just unreplaceable, you see? In the case of Chester you know that he imprinted so much of his personality in the songs. It's like GNR without Axl or Queen without Freddie. It will inevitably feel off in the beginning and she'll have to prove herself worthy of the massive fanbase. Can they make hits? I wouldn't want to be in her shoes lmao lots of pressure there
