@6cf98921 The books (the Robots cycle, and the whole Foundation cycle) are some of the best Sci Fi I’ve ever read. They’re a masterpiece, and I recommend them over the show any time! (The show doesn’t follow the books half as much as they should).
@39c11d1e @6cf98921 Since you've read the books, what do you make of this persistent claim that the Foundation novels were "unfilmable"? Is that why David Goyer deviated so much?
@40bf96e5 @6cf98921 I absolutely disagree with the statement! The books cover a huge span of time, but each one is focused on a particular character or set of characters, which they used in the show as well. The books are character stories. I’m no filmmaker or writer, but I think it was more a case of « let’s write what we want » more than « it’s not filmable ». Dune was supposed to be impossible to adapt, and the movie was absolutely fantastic!
@39c11d1e @6cf98921 Hmm, thanks for the opinion. Perhaps it was all the time jumping that made it supposedly difficult (especially for casting?)

But now I know with certainty I need to read these books ASAP.

I agree with you that Season 1 was vastly better. The critics are crazy.
