I think by 'better' I meant a mixture of more variety of topics, a better functioning, less slow to load. Are DVMs feeds? I don't even know. They can take absolutely ages to load tho.
I'd consider DVM's a feed. without a funding source though it will always be slow. Sadly, the world is addicted to the word "free", and it hurts adoption.
