I’ve used it a bit for getting support on GTS and it seemed to me like a "bad" forum/mailing-list/irc channel replacement.

 @c5bac664 The Matrix is federated, just like the Fediverse. The idea here is to create some chat rooms for BSD Cafe users (and maybe others, I'll consider it). It's privacy-friendly. Still, I must admit I've only used it a few times, but many have asked for it. So, here it is! 🙂
