If you want to better understand zap.store's web of trust checks, here is a web version to play around with:

A LOT DEVS ARE HARDCODING DNS RELAYS in BACKEND CODE - THAT IS NOT ETHICAL FOR FOSS CODE.
Relay selection will come to zap.store eventually! Step by step.
 FYI @straycat.
 Awesome 🔥 👏🏻 👍🏻

This is basically a verification of the nostr-state-of-the-art WoT score, which equals the number of profiles in the intersection of my follows and the target’s followers. Many clients calculate and employ the WoT score (perhaps with some modification to account for mutes) including zap.store, coracle.social, wikifreedia.xyz, and my own, brainstorm.ninja.

The WoT score is obviously limited bc it’s a bit of a popularity contest, anyone more than 2 hops away gets a score of zero, and it’s not clear how to make it contextual. But it is extremely effective at eliminating bots.
We use PageRank, so not exactly a WoT score as known here but still a popularity contest.

It's early days though, all this will get better.
 I’ll be taking a closer look at zap.store 👀
