We know how to get a very basic Android device made with a hardware partner and we could afford the costs. It would not come close to meeting our standards. We aren't going to make an awful MediaTek SoC device without basic security. 
 As a person that made a MediaTek-based phone, I agree. You better have the funds to walk through the development if you have any quality standards.
