Please read this Michael. Bitcoiners are starting to understand that the strength and resilience of Bitcoin ultimately depends on the social layer, that is the courage and understanding of the community to face challenges and not be fooled into renouncing decentralization for convenience. Realizing that we depend on community is a profound awakening. We all depend on community, on society, no matter how self-made we think we are or how well we know how to survive a few days in the backwoods. This awakening can save humanity from any threat and also bring us all to new heights. Once we understand that we depend on every other human being, for better of for worse, we realize that our well being depends on theirs. The more insane and unhealthy people out there, the more dangerous and poor is the world. The more sane and healthy people out there, the more opportunity and prosperity awaits us. So what makes people sane and healthy? What keeps people sane and healthy? What do people need? Well all human beings have the same list of fundamental needs, just like all daisies and all dogs do. The difference with us is that we are highly psychological and emotional beings and so of course most of our needs are psychological. Not because we can partially or temporarily overcome any emotion if we set our minds to it do we not have an increasing tendency to go mad and sick if we are restricted from being free by being made a slave. After subsistence, we equally need affection, understanding, participation, idleness, freedom, identity, creativity and protection or we will develop pathologies. These pathologies can manifest in many different forms but im all forms they will lead us to at least be burden to others at worst become destructive or self-destructive. The best thing we can do to improve society is to raise awareness about this.
wrong. the best thing we can do to "help other people" is to improve our own lives as much as possible. this lifts up the average and as we make better things, some of that benefit will also help the masses. we cannot make our own lives better if we only "live for others" we all live for ourselves and you can either recognize that and optimize and improve your life- (which will gradually help the others as well) or you can waste your life failing to "help people"
