i wholeheartedly believe there is not much difference between your average person and a ‘genius’.
Richard Feynman put it down to work ethic, but before that i think it’s just abt constantly challenging your axioms and being thoughtful abt what you put your energy towards (and how) 

 And when. Being industrious probably helps.
