It won't work, it's purely symbolic. The military police (KMAR) which does border patrol is understaffed already. They also don't want to slow down trucks since our entire economy depends on trade. So they'll just spot check cars with non-white people on highways. Meanwhile you can cross the border in other ways. But they'll get to report some nice sounding numbers, pretending succes, as the Germans do now.

Meanwhile they're also tasked with protecting politicians under threat of jihadists and such - imagine the political fallout if some politician is killed because they were distracted with symbolic border checks.
