Apple makes us declare that we are using standard encryption techniques before we push to the app store in france. Kind of sus that they only have issues with non-standard encryption. It’s not clear if nip04 or nip44 quality for the exception. https://developer.apple.com/help/app-store-connect/reference/export-compliance-documentation-for-encryption/ nostr:note169urahxw2l4t7rxrtljrs5acwk9jpj792tqsevy303ymxrhzumasq20w8x

The United States has a critical interest in ensuring that important and sensitive information of the public and private sector is protected. Lol WAT? Encryption items can be used to maintain the secrecy of information... 👍 and thereby may be used by persons abroad to harm U.S. national security, foreign policy and law enforcement interests. 🚩 The United States has a critical interest in ensuring that important and sensitive information of the public and private sector is protected. 👍 This is complete double speak. Are they suggesting that you being able to keep a secret harms my ability to keep a secret?
why participate in that nonsense?
Seems to me running decentralized nostr apps on a centralized OS is a oxymoron. There should be a bigger push to let people know to make their next mobile device be a Pixel phone with GrapheneOS. What is happening in France is likely going to happen else where too.
But that's US exports, not French imports. That's still a leftover from the 1990's crypto wars.
If it was US exports, wouldn't it be required to do that for all stores? Why specifically French?
Last time I published an app, a few years ago, it was required for all stores, I didn't see anything France specific.
Okay, then maybe I misunderstood Will. He can clarify.
