I can maybe see the benefits for a server install (but I don’t use it) and I don’t want to use it on a daily driver.
I use Slackware, the original way of Linux and think day will come most will forget how to deeply administer Linux with lot of the new OS’s and tools coming online. 

 go for it, the only thing to keep in mind is that you have to forget about FHS and understand how #NixOS installs and uses its packages, after you realize that it looks like you are editing some json file. Try to see some of vimjoyer videos, he has good explanations though.
