Is learning to sew hard? Like, if I want to make my own shirts and pants and such, am I looking at weeks, months, or years of practice?

#sewing
@fb1d6dd2 I taught myself as a pandemic hobby, in early 2020. Even my first-day pair of pj pants functioned as pants despite flaws (off grain, too big, first time ever-ness). I quickly moved into making better pj pants (my husband still wears the first batch, constantly!) and then all the knit fabrics, and finally learned wovens a year later. That’s backwards from the way a lot of sewists learn (woven fabric first, lots of fear about how advanced sewing with knits is), but it wasn’t any harder than learning wovens first. I was wearing knit (t Shirt Material) dresses and shirts in public and getting compliments on them inside of a few months.
There’s plenty of instruction online about any technique I’ve cared to learn more about, videos and text explanations both. It’s very doable!
