Imagine going back in time 5 years and telling someone "Ukraine hit the Crimea naval base with British cruise missiles, and Russia didn't escalate at all."
The last few months have really pulled the rug out from under people who thought Putin has his finger on the WW3 button all the time.

Thankfully the UK &NATO chose to accept Russia's fake explanation rather than escalate things when a UK spy plane in the Black Sea was shot at & fortunately missed. The US can be trigger happy too.
