It's so surreal how the 2000s or even early 2010s feel like an entirely different time, how swift the cultural revolution happened, and how trooned out and fake everything is online, which has the side effect of making many people ask "why should I bother". 

 @Pawlicker I basically got in just before the gamergate shitstorm. Since then everything is an cultural proxy war. Harry potter isn't just some book, now it's a vessel for trans debate. 

 @Loded-Diaper and before that it was a vessel for left wing politics (it was a meme that people would hold Harry Potter and Stah Wahs signs up at rallies right before capeshit was in vogue)
