Oddbean new post about login | logout @d72d5211 Is it a large enough population to sway politics anywhere? Also it'd be hard to show which way the cause and effect goes, as I'd expect those voting progressively to be more likely to opt for such experiences when traveling.
@8bcdf6f1 here in Aotearoa NZ it might be a sizeable demographic... but agree with you re the direction of causality... Although I think lots of people backpack because, at that age, they can't afford anything else & are just looking for adventure... in the process they receive a global perspective and experience diversity viscerally. (Some manage to avoid it, of course)
