Politicians make promises to get elected.

They don't make promises to keep them.

The only political capital to be gained by actually freeing Ross is among you and I, a tiny group of liberty-focused people.

But actually freeing him opens DJT up to a massive attack by law and order oriented  demographics which is orders of magnitude larger than ours.

So it requires a principals-oriented candidate to actually do what you're talking about, which DJT is absolutely not.
