I must be sleeping under a rock because this is the first conversation I’ve heard with Dr Maté! What a great conversation.
My favorite kind of conversations are ones dripping with the authenticity. I believe it’s what we all crave. Anyway, highly recommend this episode. I’m looking forward to reading his book as well, particularly as someone who felt with childhood trauma from religion/parents and is looking to pour love and joy into my firstborn here soon in the coming month-ish!
It’s also an incredible reminder to me of how countercultural it is to live your authentic self. There are so many cultural norms, pointless jobs, rules, and bullshit we add on to live in the modern age. It gets in the way of love, joy, meaning, and beyond. The meaning of all of this for me is to find join, interconnectedness with each other and nature. That’s why for me traditional settings like school and work have always been challenging, because I’m a very honest person constantly seeking authenticity and I’m not willing to roll with norms or bullshit just because. Same for me with friendships and family relationships.

I love his talk and he always keep you humble. He is one of those speakers that is consistently teaching to find your authentic self. Not everyone knows this because since childhood we were so conditioned how we act, behave and interact with the society with the best experience our parents had best on their ancestral teaching and life experience. It is complex however, one can only find wisdom and one's self by going through life with an open mind and humility. Humility in a sense that not everything we know may not be enough or may not entire true. ☺️❤️
his son Aaron is also a phenomenal reporter!
