Didn’t know you where talking about YT on TV, my fault. I don’t use my TV with Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is always turned off. In very rare cases when I want to watch a YT-Video on TV I use my laptop for it.
Ya my kids watch it on TV. I don’t watch TV. Most of what I watch is usually on my phone.
I hardline our Apple TVs and I despise “smart TVs,” but it’s all you can get these days really. I’ve considered buying computer monitors for TV screens more recently because everything has some awful, slow-as-piss, obnoxiously convoluted interface with less than the bare minimum hardware necessary to actually run it built into the TV now. It’s incredible to me how poorly built and designed they are, and yet alternatives are basically nowhere to be found. I still have some older flat screens with physical buttons on the back during the last era where you were able to still buy them without “Roku” installed.
and Google has said they will stop making Chromecasts, also. The best 'tv' device IMO
Had an awful time setting up a Samsung my father bought himself a couple years ago. It ultimately worked for him though since all it had to do was show Fox News when he turned it on. LOL

I bought myself a cheap TV around the same time that happened to come with the GoogleTV OS. It is still slow-as-piss on that hardware - but way better than the Samsung.

I was also wondering if it would make more sense to just use a computer monitor... do you know of any real downsides?... I mean, assuming you're fine relying on an AppleTV (which I am) or other streaming device.
