I’m currently playing a bard in my husband’s Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

It’s really tough because a bard is basically the exact opposite of my personality. https://image.nostr.build/fd474a8572090fbcb882598266630023d978576a83d888c91b9dd326847fdc6c.jpg
I am more of a rogue type.
I like rogues, wizards, rangers, etc.
 I was always the thief.
Cool Lyn. I like dragons 🐉
 😎
 Chaotic Neutral Bard?
Actually yeah. The rest of the party is good, whereas my character in this campaign is kind of the morally gray pragmatist.
I was a paladin last campaign despite having no charisma irl 😂 I had to be persuasive on the spot and it was painfully bad
As a theatre kid, i love these players.
I’m basically the exact opposite of a theatre kid, so this is rough.
But you know how to speak to your audience. Oratory is a performance.
Take it as a challenge. And kick some ass!
 diplomacy or intimidation ?
Then it's what you should be playing.

Playing ourselves within games makes for a boring arc.

Learning something new and unexpected, makes the gameplay fast more interesting.
I'm playing a bard in a BG3 campaign. Quality of life is nice. Character has the right attributes for skill checks in conversations. Also for discount at merchants.
Your post is getting a lot of traction.

Omg Lynn. Long time DnD PLAYER HERE!
If there is ever virtual room at your table, please let me know!
I usually play bards myself!
My favourite is a master archer Ranger, use hide in shadow and snipe. Charm others to do the dirty job...
