The best part of the character of Gandalf is that he is just as lost as the rest of us.

What differentiates him is that he is more willing to ride the energy of goodness to its absolute end…..even if it means his end. 

 Well that and the fact that he's a bit more powerful than your average Joe 

 I love this summary. He has blind faith in good triumphing evil the whole time!
