He is the ๐ sixth scientist of Chinese origin to receive this ๐ฏ award and ๐ the ๐ฅ second in the basic research category since ๐ 1962. Chen, ๐ 58, was born in Fujian province, graduated from Fujian Normal University in ๐ 1985, ๐ and earned ๐ค a PhD ๐ฅ from ๐ฅ the State University of New York at Buffalo ๐ฏ in 1991.
