This is your bull market reminder
that you are *NOT* living on a Bitcoin Standard.

As long as prices are denominated in US dollars
the USD is your unit of account.

you can break your brain dividing the price of a everything by 89k to find sat equivalent price
and the USD is STILL your uoa.
its a good thing to. kinda cute and a step in the right direction.
but its got fuck all to do with changing the Unit of Account.

i can sell weed for propane
and not touch USD at all,
but as long as the quantity of weed
exchanged for the quantity of propane
is decided by the relative USD value of those things,
the USD is the Unit of Account.

That doesnt change until communities start pricing goods and services *directly* in their preferred currency.
ie without regard for the supposed fiat "value"

UoA definitely does NOT change because you do division.

It should be self evident and obvious to every Bitcoiner,
that dividing the fiat price of goods or services
by the fiat price of Bitcoin,
is a *fiat measurement*.
 💯💯🥰
Very good point. But like I keep saying, I’m a realist stuck in this terrible USD system, I’m constantly stacking either way 🫡
 def keep stacking.
there's a lot of confusion about what UoA actually is and isn't.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with bitcoin (not here anyway ;)

Just that there's something wrong with Bitcoiners 🤣
How much will 20lb of propane get me?
 If you're delivering,
quite a lot in this market 🤣
Ef, you are right pricing in sats is one thing. Valuing in sats is very different
 under a US dollar UoA
what does "valuing in sats" look like?
I used to use an easy 1k sats =$1

This is just easy math and is still fiat. When I mow a lawn, create a flower bouquet, or create something on nostr and request sats, outside of any quick conversions I start to value my time & efforts in hard money.
 So...
if thats still fiat
how exactly are you valuing your time and efforts in hard money?

I'm not understanding something...
No you helped me see I wasn't thinking in sats I was thinking in. Converted dollars.

I need to start to think I did job X it is worth (N) sats. not I did job X and its worth dollars or stas
I think Nostr/zaps are helping me switch my mindset to sats. I never think “oh I sent that guy 3 cents worth of bitcoin”. I think “send that legend 17 sats”.
 It's a start
Which is hard because a transaction requires two parties. The one valueing the payment in sats and the other pricing the cost in sats is required for unit of account to finally break through as a useful metric.

If it takes two to tango one can't be trying to rave.
No thats not what this is about. This is an internal thing in your brain. You need not have the other party pay with sats to only think in sats.
Some people talk in the language of the world they see coming then they immediately have to dumb it down to contemporary understanding.

And some otherwise intelligent people fail to understand unit of account
get pissed off and defensive when you tell them that they can't just do division and change it

looking at you

 1 sat = 1 sat.

Bang on.
 Which is great and all
but how do you establish prices?
The thesis is the market would likely handle that over time. As in things would be priced in sats.
