it would be a nice option to not use goodreads etc don’t get me wrong,i like goodreads but would like to see other similar options of it - preferably open source
i'm a fan of OpenLibrary. their dataset is open source and editable and has similar features to Goodreads but not quite the same. i want the functionality of both based on OpenLibrary's dataset.
i’ve never really looked into OpenLibrary. as non dev, what i like about goodreads is the functionality of finding indie books no one has ever heard of in other languages than English, Spanish etc which i haven’t been able to find anywhere else unfortunately. but it seems like maybe with OpenLibrary you may be able to add books that don’t exist - but i have no idea how OpenLibrary actually works. i might have to look more into it. what are the pros and cons of using OpenLibrary vs Goodreads?
