 Every time I express fear about the future for queer people someone who isn’t queer says to me “at least you live in New York” as if that is comforting and not the most bone chilling thing you could possibly say.

Don’t say stuff like that. You actually don’t have to say anything! Just listen. (Then, maybe, I don’t know, do something?)

While some places may be better than others, we shouldn't have to be constantly ready to move.

 @53de482a when I'm facing healthcare and social services discrimination in the state of California, it is not, in fact, a relief to be reminded that this is pretty much the best I can get 
 @53de482a Sick of bigotry. We started a journey to an enlightened society. The regression of the past few years is heartbreaking. 
 @53de482a i’m sure in the early days of Hitler’s rule in Germany people told queer, Jewish, Roma, left-handed, socialist, etc. Berliners “at least you live in (tolerant, sophisticated) Berlin.” 
 @53de482a Well, as a cishet hashtag  A L L Y, let me just take a moment and a few hundred words to share what I think about the experiences of a group I don’t belong to whose experiences I can’t meaningfully relate to as I can provide novel insights into their reality:

 @53de482a it's especially wild when you're from somewhere like the South. Like yes, thanks, it is a relief knowing I'm marginally better off than the queer (or female) friends and family I left back home and can't safely return to whether I want to or not. Cheers!
