Oddbean new post about login | logout It's once again an incredible time for the #lightningnetwork to flourish as Bitcoin transaction fees have fallen and the costs of new payment channel infrastructure and experimentation has returned to comfortable lows. It's time to build for the next challenge.
Building would be great. I'm doing my part but... The number of nodes and channels are at three year lows and falling steadily. Capacity is still okay. This shows consolidation among fewer and larger nodes who seem to channel more with each other than with smaller nodes. It's a market. I get it. It's plenty diversified and decentralized for my comfort.... for now. Like many, I hope my node earns a useful spot among the survivors enough to support the network and at least it's own expenses.
