I wish there were accessible people with experience who could help you plan a companion plant combination that would outcompete natural flora and replace it with perennial food bearing plants.
I hate to say it but...GPT?
I wish I could remember who was interviewed on the The Survival Podcast, but there is a guy/group working on software to help with all of that based on your zip code. I probably heard the interview close to a year ago, so I would think it is at least somewhat functional now. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the guy or the group.

Yes, but I can't remember the name of the guy Jack interviewed.

Do you have any indigenous peoples in your area? (Not being flippant, or snarky) In my area of the Sonoran desert we have a seed bank and organization dedicated to methods used by a number of different groups native to the area.
Great question. I actually went to the Tribal Center some years ago asking questions about indigenous plants. I got the feeling that for at least the people I was talking to, that part of their cultural knowledge is significantly diminished if not gone. I might try a different reservation.
