I'm re-visiting the lovely books of Elaine Morgan.
She wrote "The Descent of Woman" way back in 1972, 51 long years ago!
She was very popular, especially as she was like your cosy next-door neighbour who was self-taught.
I remember her on tv, (probably because she was already part of the BBC, as a screenwriter).
She struck a chord with Feminists fighting sexism, in a decade when the horrific crimes of the Yorkshire Ripper were making Women's causes front page news.

I suggest starting with The Descent of Woman, The Aquatic Ape, and The Scars of Evolution. All available on Ebay for £5 or less. They might even be in your local Library.
Here's a useful article remembering her work and influence.
