@a1d9a3a0 I've rigged a line that goes through the front handle eyelets, through the handle, and then comes up and I can either use it as a painter or as a tiedown for the nose when the kayak's on the roof of the car I don't really like disembarking without having something connecting me to the boat, and I have no idea what people do at docks without one (I guess pull the whole thing out of the water? seems like a lot of work for a problem I could solve with a little piece of line)
@55cc3e77 I like that setup. I mostly avoid docks if I can. Most docks for motorboats that I've encountered are far, far too high for either of us to get in or out of our boats. If we can use it, on bigger water, or in boat traffic, the boat's just gonna get banged around against the dock anyway, so if I can get out, I'll pull it out.
@55cc3e77 One town where we used to live touted their new kayak dock. Great. They made it accessible – not for kayakers, but for wheelchairs. Great. That meant they put in a low railing all around that made it utterly impossible to safely launch a kayak from. I just found a safe bit of shoreline to launch from instead.
