Stream counts are hard in the "valueverse" I get the initial thought, had it myself in the beginning. But I've made10X as much here with 80% less streams. Not sure there is any "traditional" metric that would make sense to show. I've had 20K streams across all my songs but have made more here in one year than on any traditional streaming platform where I've had 500,000 streams across platforms like Spotify, Apple, Tidal, Deezer, etc. I tend to think that zapping is the right metric (at least for now). If fans like your music they reward you, a little or a lot, one stream could equal 100,000 sats or 1 sat so lot's of streams without zaps don't do an artist any service. I'm not sure about the most recent #1 on WL but I do think there is still opportunity to game the stats. Obviously one of the best things here is that when I engage, people engage back. So maybe there could be some engagement meter that could be added to the zaps? I think all anonymous zaps would be suspect. Thanks for keeping an eye out for me @NotBiebs
i don't think the stream count should be shown. just included in the top 40 algo. probably weighted less than zaps. it can still be gamed, but more work is required.
Gotcha!
I’ve always felt like there needs to be additional metrics to the top 40, but we haven’t come up with anything that makes a ton of sense to us yet.
Podcast 2.0 chart includes total qty of zaps on top of amount (I think) but it’s kind of goofy too because you could just stack a bunch of 1 sat boosts on a big one and achieve the same result.
