Thank you, this is so accurate for just about every decision people make that shoots themselves in the foot.

People are hurting, scared, and see no way out. If a "solution" is posed... Well. Anything would be better than this... Right? 

 Lots of pain, but also no sense at all of how things work. They think the government can control the price of an item and magically every other variable will stay the same. It's bewildering to watch.
