I need to read more about Nostr and test some of my theories… It claims to be censorship resistant. But it seems like to me someone could modify relay source code to incorporate censorship. Don’t get me wrong i like it and it’s great but i wonder exactly what measures are in place to block bad or suspicious relays. Is simple trust through a relay whitelist enough to stop a potential problem?
Nostr - Part 2… Also I wonder about view counts or likes. Could malicious relays censor any analytics? Just an example. Its not necessarily only content censorship that concerns me. There is the whole shadow ban style censorship and other less obvious methodologies.
Nostr - part 3… Its not just me trying to criticize something new like Nostr. It’s definitely taking many steps forward in the right direction. I’m simply an infosec / security minded person and I always have questions like this with any systems. My comments are not meant as an insult to Nostr
