I don’t know if you are in danger of frost. But if you give the squash more time on the vine the flavor will develop more and it will keep better.

Add wood chips and a some too soil just to cover. Let the rain do its thing or provide watering. WineCaps looooove rotting wood and will last indefinitely if kept ‘fed’ They also do best is partial sun. When they start fruiting i stop mowing amd let the mushies use tall grass as cover
