All of the AI influencers spreading fomo around the latest LLM coding tools just want you to be a worthless drone. They wanna sell the idea that you don’t need to think hard anymore or figure out how to solve hard problems, just refer to the “experts” or AI if you ever don’t know what to do. These tools can save you time and trouble but keep your mind strong, the future we all want won’t be built with lazy prompts.
I do feel sorry for the junior coders, it’s not going to be easy to get a job due to the firing of tens of thousands of experienced engineers and AI assistants make existing engineers more productive
Yeah it’s a new time and tougher than ever for juniors but at the same time an individual has never had more power / opportunity for learning and leveraging code As it is with everything the people who truly care will stick
Please beat this idea up but I have yet to see a significant impact as an CS engineer from AI, it's cool and helps me get some ideas down but I think many of these companies canning people thinking that they'll just hook up a bunch of LLM models to each other and it will magically make their systems work with less body count are going to realize they are now strapped for real bodies that can solve the problems.
Yeah. It’s hard to tell. I am using a tool called aider and it is like having an extra pair of eyes and hands. It does not write perfect code, but can bootstrap ideas and even does git commits, scrapes web pages as needed, offers to npm install or pip install or other cli activity. Pretty wild.
