Is it worth getting my garage spray foamed for $4000? I can put the pink insulation in myself for about $500, walls and ceilings. Thanks #asknostr #diy https://bordeauxbuilders.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/spray-foam-garage-1024x768.jpg
Is the spray foam going to save you more on your electric bill? What is the break down? Otherwise I would just do it myself
Sure is easier 😬
I’ve done both. The spray foam can be uncooperative sometimes. I prefer the pink stuff. I also would not use the rolls on the ceiling unless you have a couple sets of hands. I like the foam for unusual surfaces. I spray foam behind my outlets even when I use the pink stuff. The pink stuff doesn’t even itch anymore. Even if the pink stuff was (it’s not) less efficient… stack the difference in sats. Way out performs energy costs in my experience.
I took your advice and went pink. R26 w vapor barrier, MR board tmrw https://image.nostr.build/bba11ba7f7e55e5aa0e3407b4242a6e3b7d9b9c991bdf096055b984b6a7fa813.jpg
Bro 🥹. You are the man.
Spend a little extra and get mineral insulation/rockwool and do it yourself so you arent itching like a mf
Still saves you money and you get a better result with no offgassing
I've put up miles of rockwool and itch, doesn't bother me at all But yeah I'll just do it myself at this point
In any building I build that I will live in, I will never use fiberglass. I'm also leaning towards not using spray foam as the off gassing is not healthy and most of the foams are now soy-based. That can't be healthy, long term. 😅
Double layered fiberglass (r26) plus vapor barrier and new door 😅 drywall tomorrow. Not sure what to do with the roof yet https://image.nostr.build/adfb8533d39ce7333ecdd4c3010be51805a0b08bbfefcb4f8d7a7b46a5d647ac.jpg
