The African Union (AU) Executive Council has approved the structure of the African Space Agency (AfSA) as part of the African Outer Space Program, which is one of the flagship programs of the AU Agenda 2063. The approval of the agency's structure is seen as a concrete step towards realizing the African Outer Space Program. The agency is expected to begin operations in 2022, following the appointment of its leadership and workforce
