 @61173325

you do know this right?

 ---
Spanish colonizers introduced Asian rice to Mexico in the 1520s at Veracruz, and the Portuguese and their African slaves introduced it at about the same time to colonial Brazil.
---
PS best to leave the politics out of food and recipes . we al; have to eat ;-)
 @345f651a Spanish rice uses saffron. Mexican rice uses chili powder and cumin.

They’re not the same recipe. They are defined by their national flavour profiles.

To say the Mexican rice is Spanish and that they’re interchangeable is ignorant in more than one way.

Food is political in every way anyhow. Tariffs, lobbyists.
 @61173325 you do not put chili powder in Mexican rice. Put one or two whole serranos in the pot. Also no cumin.
 @e98079cf do you have a good recipe for it?
 @61173325 I’ll send you something tomorrow. But remind me if I forget!
 @e98079cf I’m 50 this month. Lol. Reminding anyone is crazy talk. Haha. But I’ll try! I have leftovers. I’m bound to think of it. 😊
