I don't believe that. Which app developers are trying to keep their users hooked in an unhealthy manner? I'd bet next to zero of them as they all seem to understand the issues that social media has done to all of us over the years.
Follow count, likes, zaps, notes themselves are all part of the addiction
I would like to see a client take most of these away. That could be their niche. A client without follow counts or likes. Keep Zaps IMO.
I wrote a long form post about what we can do. But ultimately, as long as there are interesting people saying interesting things there nothing more we can do.
