there is/was some race where if it sent REQs before the auth request, they would not be retried. results in an empty timeline and is terminal.  

 I personally don’t use auth so don’t have a good way to debug or fix this 

 I can get you a concise repro but I don’t personally touch ios so I can’t fix it lol.
