Run a node. Bitcoin doesn’t survive if you don’t contribute.

We need way more node runners.

These numbers are shameful and this is what losing feels like.

Quit worrying about the price and help somehow.
The cat-in-the-box theory, whether full or empty, depends on you. The goal is 5 million, but the choice between the full or empty box is yours.

 Hell run several.
Teach others how.
No point run more than one
Running a node is one of the easiest things you can do for #bitcoin. I run mine on a laptop.

In that case, every computer in my house will be a node!
I actually recently closed all my lightning channels and shut my node off
 Why?
It’s on a raspi with no backup so was only a matter of time before it bricked and I lose everything. I’ll run a node again later this year but probably won’t do anything with lightning on it
I was primarily referring to a bitcoin node. Not lightning.
Public nodes are not acting maliciously, and if they ever do it’s trivial to set one up.

The real concern is block template producers, not node runners
Yeah same here the rebalancing was atrocious and I was bleeding sats weekly. No small amounts either.
Well, its not for Bitcoins sake, its more for your sake. "Bitcoin" (or a weird centralized iteration of Bitcoin) could technically exist with a mere RAID solution on a single computer.

I say "Bitcoin" because it really just wouldn't be the same without its userbase keeping each other honest and bickering over whether we should or should not activate a BIP.

No running a node is about protecting yourself from counterfeit (you sure your wallet doesn't just say Bitcoin but actually mean BCH?) As well as being another peer that says they will or will not support XYZ (the real decentralization pressures) nostr:note1s5mzkcnyp7nfc3gj75ugql2635630996tgwp0smac8rur9zcrahsngmehk
 Why
 Truth.
Run a node and use it. Just running the code is not enough.
Massive mempool spam, vulnerabilities, forces closure everywhere... I've done my part and dilapidated enough sats.
Quiero tener un nodo pero aún no junto dinero para armarme uno
💯 Work. Save. Self custody. Use P2P exchanges. Run a
Node. Embrace personal responsibility.
 My node died.

I will build a new one
Unless it’s a raspberry pi right
 Run multiple nodes 110%
Most people, including several using Nostr, have never verified that they actually own Bitcoin

I feel like I’m in over my head running a lightning node. I don’t blame others for not running one. We need better UX.
I’m running a node. But I’m ONLY in #Bitcoin for the money. That is the ONLY reason for me. I couldn’t care less about ”the greater good”.
What money? USD, EURO, YEN, YUAN?
After you make your "gains" which fiat would you sell into?
If a CBDC is imminent, which CBDC would you prefer?

People get (and sell) #Bitcoin at the price they deserve. High time preference thinkers are couch surfers in Bitcoin, you enjoy them for a few days, then you can't wait for them to leave.

Serious question above... name your fiat shitcoin
Buying power is the ONLY interesting parameter. #Bitcoin is the best in this regard. I’ve been in Bitcoin for 4 years now, and I don’t see myself selling it easily. But I’m in it for what it can BUY me; freedom for me. Nothing else. It is for my self and my closest people; the greater good can go fuck itself.
Just set up my first one. Feels great. About 120 incoming connections right now...
Run some infrastructure if you arent already. Network only strong because lots of us are in the provider pool.

Beauty is Bitcoin would still survive.
I want to participate in the network beyond hodl to take out these banks.

How exactly you think it will help?

Yes, more nodes are better in general but by running a node you're only helping yourself 🤷
more nodes means less chanche to get the network down by external force (governament, natural distater, power outage)

Also, you have the ability to query your own node for informations in a private way and dont trust third services for that
Yeah, it's important for users to run their own node so they can verify that their incoming tx's are valid but it doesn't do much more. The problem will be when only a low number of users are verifying their incoming tx's.

It doesn't make much sense for users to run multiple nodes themselves unless it's for a some sort of high availability solution.
Running a node is enforcing the rules you want and helps keep the network protected against bad actors. If you care about defending your bitcoin (and exploring transactions, using tools) you put up a node.
Is there an easy way to filter the spam out of my node? #asknostr
Node runner for over a year now! 🫡
