@540c4aef the single biggest one is that there isn't a corporate overlord here that is presenting users with posts that keep them addicted to the platform in the name of profit. even thought that's really what many social media users are looking for.

plus you have some of the OG tryna to hang on to the old ways of the fediverse, resisting new users and anything they see as a threat to their baby.

i believe many people show up here with the wrong expectations, they don't even understand what they are missing, yet.

it can take a couple tries for the fediverse to really take.
