@preston why so little nostr use?
Because I’m failing. I need to do a better job.
I’m on here largely because you and @Jeff Booth have glowingly praised NOSTR in your podcasts. There’s so much potential here but it’s so hard to gain traction. And I suspect it’s about 100x more difficult for a pleb to interact meaningfully on NOSTR. I’ve been persistently on here almost every day but I often feel like I’m shouting into the void.
It’s early, so I suspect it will get much better for you here, but like all social media, key part is building relationships and commenting/providing value to others. Please also add an LNURL so you can receive zaps.
where’s your zaps m8?
Hi Tim, I set aside this afternoon to getting zaps worked out. The first reading I did on the matter recommended Wallet of Satoshi for my Mac’s lightning wallet, but that app has been discontinued. So I signed up to the @Alby waiting list, and we’ll see how long that takes. If you know a quicker way to get zaps up and running on a Mac I’d love to hear it!
impressive that you have found your way to the alby waitlist. fastest way on mac that I know is this: 1. go to npub.cash 2. login (nsec (aka your nostr private key) login would probably be easiest for you but note that copying and pasting your nsec to different places on the internet risks having it leaked/stolen and your account compromised. it’s safer to have your private key in a key manager like alby and then login with nip-07, which you can do with the free version of alby, but this is getting more complicated and you asked for quick so i digress) 3. create a password 4. claim a username (i think this costs 5000 sats, if you want, you could share the QR code as a comment to this post and I will happily pay it) 5. go to the settings of whatever nostr client you are using and copy the username from previous step to the “LN address” field Boom. you can now receive zaps lmk if you run into any issues PS i wouldnt keep more than 20,000 sats on this type of wallet personally because it is still a work in progress
