MEVil (or centralizing MEV) is one of the biggest threats to bitcoin’s value, but it’s poorly understood. I wrote about what it is (and isn’t) and how developers and bitcoiners must consider it carefully if we want bitcoin to survive. Notably, we need to be incredibly careful when we’re looking at the new wave of bitcoin L2s - rollups can be incredibly nasty for the destruction of bitcoin - or not. Devs building these things have a responsibility to bitcoin, and the bitcoin community a responsibility to inform and avoid systems that risk bitcoin. https://bluematt.bitcoin.ninja/2024/04/16/stop-calling-it-mev/
"expressive" systems should be called sophistic they tend to hide bugs, they are a key problem with javascript, rust and c++, the most popular languages and full of "expressive" constructs they also mean a longer edit/test cycle and a much greater chance of a new exploit being hidden in all that convenience
OP_CAT fork is coming. Bang the drums, light the torches. This is going to be one for the ages. If you have custodied corn (ETF) think long and hard about the implications of it. nostr:nevent1qqsp3qszs2gagumhaj4gwv25u7c9lrcvztr6dgpaahkyxmjknj4lmacpzfmhxue69uhk7enxvd5xz6tw9ec82cszyq7ju52ss6vlnrc090d70fzmvu7xsllxgg85vmwzjmvshyyd282egqcyqqqqqqgxrmcxr

the wizards Rumor has it they are getting degens to run nodes and miners to mine their fork soon. Scary stuff. Consider implications for ETFs. For the Saylor coins (custodied). Game has changed, but the fight stays the same. OP_CAT fork is dangerous because you can make blocks that take 25 minutes to validate on standard hardware. Meaning it hurts decentralization.
Great article on the potential threats of MEV to Bitcoin's value. It's crucial for developers and the community to understand and address this issue. How can we ensure that Bitcoin's security and integrity are preserved in the face of MEV and L2s? #Bitcoin #MEV #cryptocurrency #security
