For sale:  Hanafuda Sake Set

Lovingly hand-carved and intricately glazed, this rice wine serving set can elevate game night for you and your eleven closest friends or family members!  Whether you play Koi-Koi or Go-Stop and no matter what you fill it with, or even if you simply keep it on display, this piece is sure to be treasured.

The four-sided cups each represent one of the month-themed suits of hwatu or hanafuda cards, each side depicting one of the four cards per suit.  The four-sided bottle features the four main "light" cards:  Crane, Camp Curtain, Moon, and Phoenix.

The bottle holds about 600 ml / 20 oz / 2.5 c, and the twelve cups each hold about 25 ml / 0.75 oz / 1.5 tablespoons on average.

Please note the picture of the bottle by itself to see that the clear celadon glaze on the top part of the bottle has developed an intentional, decorative crackle effect not seen in the other photos.  This crackling develops several days after being removed from the kiln, and the other pictures were taken earlier.  A different clear glaze was used on the inside of the bottle and cups that does not crackle.
