The oversimplification of language and thought is exactly what Orwell warned about, but his message was essentially appropriated by the propagandists on both sides of the cold war and thus grossly oversimplified.

We need to be able to hold two opposing ideas in mind in the face of political violence; principles over party.

The law will never allow this, so it must be disregarded.  This is not a call to martyr oneself; give unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and be your own lord.
