As the Internet has evolved, despite our efforts to build in freedom technology…. Its natural course is centralization and enslavement. Everything we build leads to more suffocation. FB, google, email, X, Instagram… all of it. Bad. How many Internet providers in your area? 3? 5? They are the gate keepers to all of the information existing on the Internet.
Things always end badly because people prioritize money over altruism. The world would be a better place if people truly cared about the well-being of their communities.
There have been studies showing that people's empathy decrease with the amount of wealth they acquire. Most of us do care about our communities but there are those plundering them and those that are plundered and are way down on Maslow's Hierarchy of Need and struggling to survive. I know I feel it every time I go to the grocery store. We shouldn't want to live in a society that creates so many desperate people while others fly on private jets.
This is the natural gravity of capitalism. It is the philosophy of eternal growth which means eternal consumption and destruction of all things. As one accumulates wealth, they also accumulate power... Which, in turn, is used to accumulate more wealth and more power... Etc... It is not "human nature" or inherit in technology it is simply the context in which they interact and the incentives inherent in the system within which they operate. We improved upon previous systems when capitalism emerged... We can do better
