Delta still struggling with effects of IT outage ========== Delta Air Lines is still facing the effects of a global IT outage that occurred due to a flawed update to an antivirus program. As of Monday afternoon, Delta had canceled 784 flights and experienced 1,028 flight delays, more than its competitors American and United. The IT problem affects Delta's Microsoft Windows system, which is used for applications such as a crew tracking tool. Delta CEO Ed Bastian apologized to customers and issued a travel waiver for changes at no charge. The US Department of Transportation has reminded Delta of its responsibilities to customers and DOT's enforcement role. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stated that Delta will be held accountable for the disruptions and unacceptable customer service conditions. Delta's reliability and high-quality flying experience have been affected by the cancellations.
