Running Obsidian. AKA Taking notes for work more effectively.
Did you ever use notion? How does it compare? I heard it’s decentralized?
Best note taking app
I’m liking it so far. Really like the visualization I can do in the canvas with all of the different note elements.
You can publish long-form content from Obsidian to Nostr using Obsidian Nostr writer https://github.com/jamesmagoo/nostr-writer
I keep checking in on Obsidian from time to time. I'm continually intrigued, but it always feels like II would take days of effort to make it just work. I moved from Roam to Tana early this year. It's brilliant, but closed and uses its own DB, rather than markdown (which I do everything possible in). What's your take on pros and cons?
I am definitely moving slow to start. I really like the native markdown notes and visualizing my notes in canvases in order to see all the random stuff that makes up my projects. I like the variety of themes available, the Nostr interoperability thanks to the obsidian extension that @James made. (Still need to explore both of those in more detail to be honest.) I haven’t discovered cons yet but will keep you posted!
Just checked it out. Looks terrific. Installed. 🙏🏼
Best thing. I was all over the place before Obsidian, Trello, Docs, Drive, etc. I don't want sync. I sit on my laptop and do shit. All local, with regular manual backups to a USB stick. Markdown is love 💓 Tags, date and time inserts, tables, latex, custom colors for bold and italic with css, code blocks, live embeds from other notes is a killer feature ![[some-note#some-heading]], voice notes; click record and blabber; they get embedded in the note, callouts to highlight stuff, ... Started for side projects, then slowly moved everything there. Work, diary, and study.
